Information we collect

Information you provide directly

When you use our receipt generator, you enter:

• Your name (as tenant)
• Your landlord’s name and email address
• Your property address
• Rent amount and payment details
• Payment method and dates

If you create an account (optional), we also collect:

• Your email address
• Account preferences and saved defaults

If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, bank account details, or other payment credentials. Stripe’s privacy policy governs how they handle your payment information.

Information collected automatically

We use Vercel Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregate usage data including page views, visit duration, and referral sources. This data does not identify you personally and no cookies are used for tracking.

How we use your information

We use the information you provide to:

• Generate rent receipt PDFs as requested by you
• Send receipt emails to addresses you specify (via Postmark)
• Save your receipt history and auto-fill preferences (if you have an account)
• Generate year-end tax summaries (for paid plan users)
• Send you monthly receipt reminders (if you have an account; you can unsubscribe at any time)
• Respond to support inquiries

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We will never monetize your data.

Third-party services

These services only receive the minimum data necessary to perform their function.

Data retention

• Anonymous receipts (no account): Receipt data is used to generate your PDF and is not stored on our servers after the PDF is created.
• Account receipts: Your receipt data is stored as long as your account is active. You can delete individual receipts or your entire account at any time.
• Email logs: Postmark retains email delivery logs for 45 days for deliverability monitoring.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data at any time through your account dashboard
• Export your receipts as PDF or CSV
• Delete individual receipts or your entire account and all associated data
• Opt out of reminder emails at any time via the unsubscribe link

Data security

We protect your data through:

• Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) on all pages
• Row Level Security (RLS) on our database ensuring you can only access your own data
• Secure authentication via Supabase Auth (magic link, no passwords stored)
• No storage of payment credentials (handled entirely by Stripe)

Children’s privacy

RentReceipt is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us at support@rentreceipt.io and we will promptly delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
